PUNAKHA EXCURSION TO PHOBJIKHA VALLEY
After Breakfast Morning Drive from Punakha to Gangtay (Phobjika) Sight Seeing Which also spelt Phobjika, the suffix kha means valley in Dzongkha) is a vast U- shaped glacial Valley. Also known as Gangtey Valley named after the impressive Gangtey Monastery of the Niangua sect in Central Bhutan, where the Graceful Black- necked Cranes in Bhutan (Grus nigricollis) from the Tibetan Plateau visit the valley during the winter season to roost. Day 4 · Paro
PUNAKHA SIGHTEEING TO PARO (115 Km-3hrs)
Punakha, situated at an altitude of 1300m/4265ft. Blessed with fertile lands from the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers, Punakha showcases its natural beauty and cultural richness. Commencing in the morning, your exploration begins with Punakha Dzong, the ‘Palace of Great Happiness,’ built in the 17th century and now serving as the winter residence for Je Khenpo, the head abbot, and a community of 1,000 monks. Afternoon ventures include a visit to the historic Punakha Suspension Bridge, one of Bhutan’s oldest, and Chimi Lhakhang, the 15th-century Temple of Fertility.
