Day 1 Gangtok
NJP/Bagdogra – Gangtok (Approx 4–5 hrs)
Upon arrival at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) or Bagdogra Airport, you will be received and transferred to Gangtok by road. The journey takes approximately 4–5 hours, covering scenic landscapes of the Teesta River, lush green hills, and winding mountain roads, making the drive enjoyable and refreshing. Upon reaching Gangtok, check in to your hotel and take some time to relax after the journey.
In the evening, you can visit MG Marg at your own arrangement (vehicle cost not included). MG Marg is the heart of Gangtok, known for its vibrant atmosphere, clean pedestrian streets, cafes, restaurants, and local shops. You can enjoy a leisurely walk, try local Sikkimese cuisine, or shop for souvenirs. After spending a pleasant evening, return to your hotel for an overnight stay in Gangtok. -
Day 2 Gangtok
Excursion to Tsomgo (Changu) Lake, Baba Mandir & Nathula Pass (Optional)- Extra Cost
Start your day early from Gangtok as you proceed for a high-altitude excursion towards the iconic Tsomgo Lake, situated at an elevation of approximately 12,400 ft. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, the lake offers mesmerizing views and remains partially frozen during winter months. Enjoy the serene environment and you may also experience yak rides and local stalls selling warm snacks. Afterward, continue your journey to the sacred Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir, a highly respected shrine dedicated to an Indian Army soldier, believed to protect the region even after his passing.
From here, travelers who have obtained the required permit can further visit Nathula Pass, located at around 14,140 ft on the Indo-China border. Nathula is one of the highest motorable passes in the world and offers a rare opportunity to witness the international border up close. Please note that the Nathula Pass visit is optional, subject to government permits, weather conditions, and is available at an additional cost payable directly. After completing the excursion, return back to Gangtok in the evening with unforgettable memories of the Eastern Himalayas. -
Day 3 Lachung
Gangtok to Lachung (Approx 6–7 hrs)
After an early breakfast in Gangtok, begin your picturesque journey towards Lachung, a charming mountain village located at an altitude of around 9,600 ft. The drive takes approximately 6–7 hours and is filled with breathtaking views of mountains, waterfalls, and river valleys.
On the way, make a stop at the beautiful Seven Sisters Waterfalls, one of the most scenic waterfalls in Sikkim, where water cascades down in multiple streams against a lush green backdrop—perfect for photography and short breaks.
Continue your journey with another brief halt at the Chungthang Dam View Point, where you can witness the confluence of the Lachen and Lachung rivers along with a small hydroelectric project set amidst stunning surroundings.
After enjoying the scenic stops, proceed towards Lachung. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel, freshen up, and relax. In the evening, enjoy the peaceful ambiance of the village surrounded by mountains and the sound of the flowing river. Dinner will be served at the hotel, followed by an overnight stay in Lachung. -
Day 4 Lachung
Excursion to Yumthang Valley – Optional Zero Point / Mount Katao
Start your day early from Lachung with a delicious breakfast, as you head out for an unforgettable excursion to the breathtaking Yumthang Valley, also known as the “Valley of Flowers.” Located at an altitude of around 11,800 ft, Yumthang is famous for its vast stretches of alpine meadows, seasonal blooming flowers, and the flowing Lachung Chu River, all surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Spend some time enjoying the natural beauty and serene environment.
After exploring Yumthang Valley, you can proceed further (at an additional cost) to Zero Point, situated at an altitude of about 15,300 ft, where the road ends and you can experience snow almost throughout the year. It offers a mesmerizing high-altitude landscape with snow-covered surroundings and a raw Himalayan experience.
Alternatively, you may also opt to visit Mt Katao (subject to permit and weather conditions), another stunning high-altitude destination known for its panoramic views and heavy snowfall, making it a paradise for snow lovers. Please note that both Zero Point and Mt Katao are optional excursions, require special permits, and involve additional costs payable directly.
After completing the excursion, return back to Lachung by afternoon. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, enjoying the peaceful mountain surroundings. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the hotel in Lachung. -
Day 5 Gangtok
Lachung to Gangtok (Approx 6–7 hrs)
After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Lachung and begin your return journey towards Gangtok. The drive takes around 6–7 hours and once again offers mesmerizing views of the Himalayan landscape, winding roads, and river valleys.
On the way, stop at the magnificent Bhim Nala Waterfall, popularly known as Amitabh Bachchan Waterfall due to its towering height and powerful flow. It is one of the highest waterfalls in Sikkim and a perfect spot for photography and short refreshment breaks.
Continue your journey with another halt at the Chungthang Dam View Point, where you can enjoy scenic views of the river confluence and surrounding mountains.
After the sightseeing stops, proceed towards Gangtok. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and relax after the long journey. The rest of the day is at leisure, allowing you to unwind and enjoy the comfort of your stay. Overnight stay in Gangtok. -
Day 6
Gangtok – NJP/Bagdogra (Approx 4–5 hrs)
After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Gangtok and proceed for your onward journey to New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) or Bagdogra Airport. The drive takes approximately 4–5 hours and follows the scenic route along the Teesta River, offering beautiful views of mountains, valleys, and lush greenery.
During the journey, you may take short halts at picturesque viewpoints and riverside spots for refreshments and photography. As you descend from the hills to the plains of West Bengal, the landscape gradually changes, making the drive both relaxing and enjoyable.
Upon arrival at NJP Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport, you will be dropped off for your onward journey, marking the end of your memorable Sikkim trip.
