8 Nights 9 Days Bhutan Tour Package Itinerary

Day 1: DAY 1: ARRIVAL BAGDOGRA AIRPORT / NJP RAILWAY STATION – PHUENTSHOLING

On arrival you will be met by our representative near the exit area. Transfer to Phuentsholing, Phuentsholing is a frontier and thriving commercial center on the northern edge of the Indian plains and five-six hours drive south of Thimphu and Paro International airport. Situated at the foothills of Himalaya, it serves as the main trading zone for Bhutanese with other neighboring countries of South Asia . Visitors can reach Phuentsholing by road from Sikkim, Darjeeling and Bagdogra airport in West Bengal . It takes between 3 - 6 hours by drive from these places. Check-in Hotel . Post Lunch places you can see are Kharbandi Gompa (Rinchending), built in 1967 by the Royal Grandmother. Zangdopelri Temple, located in the center of Phuentsholing town, represents the abode of Guru Rinpochey. Overnight stay at the hotel in Phuentsholing.

Day 2: DAY 2: PHUENTSHOLING - THIMPHU (PERMIT/VISA FOR BHUTAN)

After breakfast, we will take you to immigration office for visa/permit for Bhutan stay. After completion you will be transferred to Thimphu, Capital of Bhutan. The distance of 180 km takes 6-7 hours depending on the road conditions and stops is long, spectacular and also rich and diverse with forever changing vegetation. On the way you will also see the first hydropower electric project ever built in Bhutan. Leaving Chukha we will stop at the small town of Chima Kothi for a tea break.Overnight stay at the hotel in Thimphu.

Day 3: DAY 3: THIMPHU (LOCAL SIGHTSEEING)

After Breakfast we will be sightseeing around Thimphu town. We will be going to visit few important places of Thimphu. Changangkha Lhakhang is a monastery built in 12th century and is believed to be an auspicious temple as new born babies are taken there for blessings. Motithang Takin Preserve is the next place we will go to. Then the crew will lead you to Zorig Chusum which is a painting school, where students learn the 13 traditional arts and crafts of Bhutan. Along with that we will visit National Library is a house with vast collection of ancient Buddhist texts and manuscripts. Then Memorial Chorten (Stupa) is a perfect place for peace of mind and tranquility. It was built in 1974 in the memory of Third King of Bhutan. Nearing the evening we will ride to Buddha statue sited at Kuensel Phodrang, it is one of the largest Buddha stupain the world. Before we close our sightseeing we will visitNational Handicrafts Emporium/Royal museum. Tashichho Dzong, Thimphu’s most impressive building situated at the banks of Wang Chu (River). Day 4: DAY 4: THIMPHU - PUNAKHA (VIA DOCHULA PASS)

After breakfast we drive to (Punakha 90Km / 3 Hrs) crossing Dochu-la pass (3,088m). The clear day offers the most spectacular view over the highest peaks of the Himalaya. We start the day visiting Drukwangyal chorten (Temple) at Dochula. Take a short hike to Chimi Lhakhang. It’s widely believed that childless couples are usually blessed with a child very soon, if they pray at this temple. Post lunch we visit Punakha Dzong, built in 1637, consider as second oldest dzong in the country. It is built in between two rivers, Female River and Male River. Evening freely stroll around the town around River side & farm houses. Night stay at Punakha.

Day 5: DAY 5: PUNAKHA SIGHTSEEING - PARO

After breakfast we visit Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten then we make our ways to Royal Biotical Park at Lamperi. After that we will drive towards Paro. En route stop and visit Tachogang Lhakhang made of iron bridge dates back to the 14th century and was built by Thangtong Gyalpo. Walking onto the bridge was fun, as you could see the torrential river flowing right underneath your feet. The original iron chain is now supplemented by a chain link sheet so you don’t fall through. Evening freely scrolled around Paro Town. Night stay at Paro.

Day 6: DAY 6: PARO (LOCAL SIGHTSEEING)

After Breakfast we will be sightseeing around Paro. Paro is a name of the town center as well the name of district or Dzongkhag. The small and charming town of Paro lies in the center of the valley at an average elevation of 2280m, on the bank of Pa Chhu River. Paro town was first formed in 1985 with one main street, lined with colorfully painted shops. Overnight at hotel. The following places will be visited in Paro: 1. Paro Dzong (fortress) built in 1646. You will cross a traditional wooden bridge on the way to the Dzong. 2. National Museum (Ta-Dzong) just above Paro Dzong, where we have unique collections of ancient armor, textiles, Thangkha paintings. 3. Dumtshe Lhakhang, built 14th century 4. Kichu Lhakhang is one of the oldest and most sacred shrines of the Kingdom built in 7th century by Tibetan King. Songtsen Gampo to flourish Buddhism in Bhutan. 5. Drukgyel Dzong is known as the fortress of victory, from here that the Bhutanese repelled several Tibetan armies during 17th century. It was built in 1649. 6. River side & farm house. Night stay at Paro.

Day 7: Day 07: HIKE to TAKTSANG (Tiger's Nest)

After breakfast drive to a Point, where hike to Paro starts. Taktsang Palphug Monastery more famous as Paro Taktsang is a Buddhist temple complex which clings to a cliff, 3120 meters above the sea level on the side of the upper Paro valley. The Taktsang Palphug Monastery is one of the most famous touristic destinations of the country and the cultural icon of Bhutan. Visiting the Paro Taktsang Monastery is an unforgettable experience thanks to its unique location and the views of surrounding majestic mountains and emerald green valleys. It is believed that in 8th century Spiritual Master (Guru Rinpoche) known as the second Buddha in Bhutan, have arrived here flying on the back of a tigress from Singye Dzong in Lhuntse and meditate in a cave for three month where Taktsang Monastery now stands. Note: For a person who is not able to hike to Tatksang, horse services are there but needs to pay horse charges by clients. Evening freely scroll around town. Night stay at Paro

Day 8: DAY 08: PARO - PHUENTSHOLING
