Day 1: IXB Airport / njp – Gangtok ( 4 / 5Hr)
Welcome to the north eastern heaven on earth. Your Sikkim-Darjeeling tour starts here Meet & Greet on arrival at NJP Railway Station / IXB Airport & transfer to Gangtok and visit famous coronation bridge .Locals call the bridge Baghpool, meaning tiger bridge, because of the two lion statues (bagh actually means tiger) at one entrance of the bridge. John Chambers, the last British executive Engineer of the Darjeeling Division Public Works Department (PWD), carried out the design and also sevok kali temple. The Sevoke Kali Mandir is a temple dedicated to Kali Maa, the Goddess of Destruction and is considered a very sacred place of the Hindus. It is situated on the top of the hill near Bagh Pool over the mighty Teesta River. It is about 23 kms away from the heart of Siliguri town and is very famous among the people of this region. Day 2: Excursion to Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir,Try a yak-ride &cable car(Nathula pass optional)
After breakfast day excursion to the oval shaped Tsomgo Lake (40 kms from Gangtok departure in the morning) - situated at a height of 3,780 mts. with an average depth of 50 ft and home to the Brahminy duck and several migratory birds. In spring enjoy the beauty of premolars, magnolias and rhododendron in bloomOn the way stop at KyongnoslaThe cool water of the Lake is perfectly attuned with the scenic beauty around. Travel to Baba Mandir (Memorial & temple honoring Indian army soldier, folk hero & saint Baba Harbhajan Singh.) another 17 kms beyond Tsomgo lake. Return to Gangtok. Built after an almost a decade-long struggle, the TsomgoPassenger Ropeway started operation in July 2017 Optional Nathula (Additional Cost) (14140 Ft / 4310 Mts / 20 Kms in 1Hrs one way from Tshangu Lake) Baba Mandir (13100Ft / 3994 Mts / 16Kms in 1Hrs one way from Tshangu Lake) is an Indo China border, controlled by the Indian Army & is situated approx 20 Kms ahead of Tshangu Lake at an height of 14140 Ft / 4310. The journey to Nathula& Baba Mandir is same up to 16 Kms. At this point the right arm of the “V†which is 4 Kms takes one to Baba Mandir & left arm of the “V†which is 4 Kms takes one to Nathula. One can opt for Nathula Excursion by paying a supplement cost which varies from month to month. Nathula permit gets confirmed 24 hrs prior to the journey date & it is subjected to permit availability as it is allotted as per lottery. Nathula is closed on Monday & Tuesday for tourist. Organizing the permit at the last moment is not possible & a clear window of 72 Hrs with proper documents is required to process the permit. Day 3: Gangtok to Lachen(about 125km/6hrs)
• After breakfast check out from hotel with limited Luggage and proceed to Lachen(altitude 8800ft) North Sikkim. On the way take a break for some beautiful Spots which are worth seeing and visiting like Naga Waterfall, stop on way for lunch (own cost). the Confluence of Lachen Chu (River) & Lachung Chu (River) at Chungthang and Bhim Nala Waterfall. Reach lichen by evening. Dinner at hotel. Overnight halt at lachen hotel. • SUMO/BOLERO is not allowed as per Govt. Rules (8.00 am to 8.00 pm) in GANGTOK CITY & SUMO/BOLERO IS ONLY STAND TO STAND BASIC.Stand to hotel/Hotel to stand is by own cost, TRIPS TO NATURE is not responsible for that.
Day 4: Lachen – Gurudongmar excursion – Lachung
Start early morning at 4.00 am drive to Gurudongmar lake Gurudongmar Lake, also known as Gurudogmar Lake, is one of the highest lakes in the world, located at an altitude of 17,800 ft in the Indian state of Sikkim. The lake remains completely frozen in the winter months, from November to Mid-May.It is a lake which is considered sacred by both Buddhists and Sikhs via chopta valley& thangu , back to hotel for lunch, after lunch transfer to lachung, overnight at hotel at lachung.
Day 5: Lachung-Yumthang excursion –Gangtok (Zero Point Optional)
Early morning visit yumthang valley(known as valley of flowers), yumthang is the summer grazing grounds of the yeks& winter play grounds of yetis. On the way back visit the spring considered to have medical properties. Back to resort for lunch, after lunch Drive to Gangtok. Day 6: Gangtok – Pelling
After an early morning breakfast, checkout from the hotel and we will drive you to your hotel in Pelling. With an approx distance of 113km it an overall 5hrs drive from Gangtok to Pelling / Darap(6,100 ft.). Via Ravengla, And visit Buddha park. Pelling is a small town in the northeastern Indian state of Sikkim, at the foothills of Mount Khangchendzonga.The journey between Gangtok to Pelling is filled with pictorial landscape of steep green hills, deep valleys. During you Pelling tip you will also come across many Mountain Rivers and majestic waterfalls. Have you lunch on the way to Pelling. Check into your hotel and freshen up. You are free for the rest of the evening to go on a leisure walk along the misty track through pine forest or try the local cuisine or simply enjoy the beautiful landscape of Pelling from your hotel room. Day 7: Pelling Sightseeing
After breakfast start for full day sightseeing. start your local sightseeing of Pelling from Darap Village this sleepy village is nestled on a gentle slope of the mountain and is mostly occupied by the Limboo tribe, although there are small population of other communities as well. 1st Half tour - Darap village, Rimbi water Falls, Khecheopalri Lake &Khangchendzongha waterfalls. In afternoon start for 2nd Half tour - Pemayangtse Monastery, Rabdantse Ruins, New Halipad Ground. Overnight stay at pelling.
Day 8: Pelling to Darjeeling
The journey runs through the winding road cutting across the valleys, hills and villages and follows the course of Tista River and then beautiful Rangit River till Legship. Day 9: Tiger hill and Darjeeling local sightseeing
We proceed early morning (around 4 am) towards Tiger Hill to experience the breath taking view of sunrise over Mt.Kanchandzonga (28,200 ft.) , Kabru , Pandim& the Everest range on the far horizon , on your way back visit Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop. After breakfast visit Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, P.N. Zoological Park (Thursday closed), Tenzing Rock, Tibetan Refugee self-help Centre (Sunday closed), Tea Garden (outer view), and Japanese Temple. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the mountain ranges while roaming through Darjeeling Mall.Overnight at Darjeeling. Tiger Hill (Permission mandatory) Tiger Hill : Situated 13 kilometers from the town at an altitude of 2590 meters (8482 ft.), has earned international fame for its magnificent view of the sunrise over the "Kanchanjunga" and the great eastern Himalayan peaks. Even Mount Everest, the world's highest peak, is visible from here. Tea Garden : Approximately 40 minutes walking distance from Darjeeling bazaar, you can see and feel the real tea plantations of famous Darjeeling tea that called Happy Valley. GhoomMonastery : On the way back from Tiger hill we will visit the Ghoom Monastery on the Ghoom spur. This monastery is one of the oldest Buddhist monasteries in India, 12 ft high statue of Lord Buddha Built in 1875 by Lama Sherab Gyatso. The specialty of this monastery is that it contains the statue of the 'Future Coming Buddha' known as Maitreye Buddha. Batasia Loop and War Memorial: Aboard the Toy Train from Siliguri to Darjeeling just below Ghoom and 5 kms from Darjeeling is the BatasiaLoop, an engineering marvel and feat. Almost imperceptibly, the railway line negotiates a circle and descends 1,000 ft in altitude. From Batasia - windy place - one can watch a great view of Darjeeling perched on the slopes of hills and Mt. Kanchenjunga in the far horizon. Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park :Established on the 14th of August, 1958, the zoo was dedicated to the memory of Padmaja Naidu, former Governor of West Bengal on the 21st November, 1975. Considered as one of the best zoos in the country, it is the only centre that breeds the tibetan wolf in captivity. Breeding programmes for the endangered red panda, snow leopard and the siberian tiger are also carried out at PNHZP. The zoo is open on all days except on Thursdays and other national holidays. H.M.I. : The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute was set up by the local hero Tenzing Norgay Sherpa following their successful ascent on Mount Everest on 28 May 1953 . The oldest mountaineering institute in the country carries out various mountaineering courses every year. Apart from Tenzing, legendary mountaineers like NawangGombu(First man to climb Everest twice) and LattooDorjee Sherpa have helped build the reputation of this pioneering institute. The institute is presently under the purview of the Ministry of Defence, Government of India.
Day 10: Darjeeling to Njp/airport Drop
After breakfast at your hotel and proceed for the NJP Station / Bagdogra (IXB).It takes about 3 hours (depending on traffic) to cover the 88kms distance from NJP to Darjeeling. NH-55 (Hill Cart Road) offers magnificent views of the mountains, valleys and village life. The toy train railway track runs side-by-side the road for most part.
