Pahalgam is a serene town located in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is situated at the confluence of the Lidder River and the Sheshnag Lake, amidst lush green meadows, verdant forests, and the majestic Himalayas. Known for its scenic beauty, it serves as a base for many trekkers undertaking the Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave. Pahalgam is also a part of Asia's only saffron growing area and is famous for its many breathtaking locations like Aru Valley, Betaab Valley, and Chandanwari. The town's untouched rural ambiance and its idyllic weather have made it a popular destination for film shootings, especially for Bollywood movies. The main activities one can enjoy here include golfing, trout fishing, trekking, horse riding, and white water rafting during the summers. In winter, the landscape turns into a snowy wonderland, providing opportunities for snow sports. It also has a well-known Pahalgam Golf Course and is renowned for the annual Pahalgam Music & Culture Festival, which showcases the region's musical and artistic traditions.
