Kolahoi Glacier, also known as 'Goddess of Light', is an extensive alpine glacier situated in the northwestern Himalayan Range in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. Positioned below Kolahoi Peak, the glacier is a significant source of water for the Jhelum and Lidder Rivers. Renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty, it serves as a key attraction for trekkers and mountaineers. The glacier is surrounded by lush meadows, soaring peaks, and alpine forests, which provide a perfect backdrop for adventure activities. However, it has been receding at an alarming rate due to global warming, making it a point of interest for environmental studies and raising concerns about the future availability of water in the region. Visitors can reach the glacier base through a trek starting from Aru village in Pahalgam or from Sonamarg via the Vishansar Lake and Krishansar Lake, each offering a unique trail with spectacular vistas.
