Explore Rudraprayag Tourism
Rudraprayag is a town and a municipality in Rudraprayag district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Nestled in the Himalayan ranges, it is one of the Panch Prayag, the five confluences of the Alaknanda River where it meets the Mandakini River. Rudraprayag is named after Lord Shiva, who is also known as Rudra. The place holds immense religious significance for Hindus as it is near Kedarnath, one of the Chota Char Dham pilgrimage sites. It serves as a stopover for pilgrims visiting Kedarnath and Badrinath. The town is surrounded by majestic peaks, and the confluence is a sight to behold with the turquoise blue waters of both rivers merging. The region is also known for its temples like Rudranath and Chamunda Devi. Besides spirituality, the place offers opportunities for trekking, rock climbing, and other adventure sports. The region was tragically affected by the 2013 flash floods, causing widespread damage to life and property.
