Amritsar Tour Packages Itinerary

Amritsar, located in the state of Punjab, India, is a city steeped in history and culture. It is famous worldwide as the home of the Golden Temple, officially known as Harmandir Sahib, which is a central spiritual and cultural center for Sikhs. The city derives its name from the Amrit Sarovar, meaning 'holy pool of nectar,' which surrounds the Golden Temple. Founded in 1577 by the fourth Sikh Guru, Guru Ram Das, Amritsar has grown to be a bustling urban settlement with a rich blend of tradition and modernity. Apart from the Golden Temple, Amritsar is known for its culinary delights, especially the rich Punjabi cuisine, vibrant festivals, bustling markets, and historical sites such as Jallianwala Bagh and the Wagah Border, the latter being the ceremonial border between India and Pakistan. It is also a hub of textile and handicraft industries, including the famous Phulkari embroidery.
