The Partition Museum, situated in Amritsar, Punjab, India, is a pioneering institution that opened its doors in August 2017 to commemorate the tumultuous events of the Partition of India in 1947. It is located in the Town Hall building which is over 150 years old, and the museum itself covers an area of approximately 17,000 square feet, dedicated to preserving the memories and stories of the millions affected by the division. The narrative of the museum is presented through multimedia exhibits, including photographs, newspaper clippings, personal artifacts, and heart-wrenching audio-visual testimonies from survivors. These exhibits aim to provide visitors with a visceral and educational experience, portraying the pre-Partition history, the independence struggle, the partition process, mass displacement, and resettlement. The museum serves as a somber reminder of the historical events and as a tribute to the resilience of the human spirit in the face of horrific tragedies.

A must.
Well laid out, easy to navigate and so much to learn. Very informative. Information boards are in English too. Cheap entrance fee. Clean. You need maybe an hour to an hour and a half at the most.

We have a feeling that this museum only shows the hardship partition brought on and does not focuse too much of what a bad idea partition itself was. Merely our thoughts.
