Originally built by the ruler of the Bhangi Misl, the fort was eventually rebuilt by Maharaja Ranjit Singh after its capture in the early 19th century. It is known for its robust construction and strategic location, historically serving as a guardian of the city against invaders. After the British conquest of Punjab, the fort was named after and associated with Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru. Spread over 43 acres, it showcases a blend of different architectural styles and has been recently renovated to include museums, live shows, and eateries to enhance the visitor experience. The fort's thick walls, intimidating bastions, and well-maintained heritage buildings offer insight into Punjab's rich history and military legacy. It epitomizes the martial spirit and historical grandeur of Punjab, making it an important cultural and tourist spot.
