Kochi comprises a mix of islands and mainland, with a series of picturesque lagoons, backwaters, and canals. The city's culture is a mélange of traditional Kerala heritage and a colonial past. Iconic landmarks include the Fort Kochi area, famous for Chinese fishing nets, Santa Cruz Basilica, St. Francis Church, and the Jewish Synagogue in Mattancherry.
