Vypin Island Tourism

Vypin Island, located in Kochi (Cochin) in the state of Kerala, India, is a beautiful elongated island that forms a part of the group of islands that constitute the city of Kochi, in the Arabian Sea. The island, approximately 27 kilometers in length, is connected to mainland Kochi by a series of bridges known as the Goshree bridges, making it easily accessible. Aside from its scenic beaches, such as Cherai Beach and Kuzhuppilly Beach, Vypin is known for its lighthouses, like the Puthuvype Lighthouse, which offers panoramic views of the Arabian Sea. The island also features tranquil backwaters, lush mangroves, and diverse marine life. Historically, Vypin was heavily affected by the devastating tsunami in 2004, but has since recovered and developed into a vibrant community. It's a mix of traditional Keralite culture and modernity, with a thriving fishery industry and emerging tourism. Local cuisine predominantly includes seafood and coconut-infused dishes, reflecting the island's coastal environment.
