Jew Town is a unique location nestled in the heart of Mattancherry, Kochi, which carries the remarkable vestiges of Jewish culture and history in India. It's a place with narrow lanes lined with houses that bear the marks of history, antique shops, and the aroma of spices from the local market. Paradesi Synagogue, part of the Jew Town enclave, holds the distinction of being the oldest active synagogue in the Commonwealth Nations. Built in 1568, it represents the peak of the Jewish community's presence which has significantly dwindled over time. The synagogue is an enchanting building, famous for its Belgian glass chandeliers, blue and white hand-painted Chinese tiles, and the intricately crafted gold pulpit. It tells the story of a once-thriving ethnic community in Kochi.

Plenty of shops to look in. And a nice Synagogue dating almost 500 years. Lots of friendly people there. No traffic in Jew Town and armed Police

Safest place in kochi, to go with family. Lot of small shops, of antique, spices. There is government boat service to go to willington island, ernakulam and fortkochi

Must visit in Kochi - a unique experience that tells a piece of history
Must visit in Kochi! Visit the synagogue (closes 6 pm) and keep enough time to explore the unique shops along the way (which also close early by the way).

Lovely little place
We were fascinated with Jew Town. Reminded us of the old European streets. Lots of good clothes and antiques around, although a bit expensive. But this street was really good.
