Ala Archa National Park is a natural treasure located in the Tian Shan mountains of Kyrgyzstan, approximately 40 km south of the capital city, Bishkek. The park covers an area of about 200 square kilometers, embracing the rugged terrain of the Ala Archa Gorge. It is named after the Ala Archa River, which means 'Bright Juniper' in Kyrgyz, as many juniper trees can be found within its vicinity. Established in 1976, the park is a popular destination for hikers, trekkers, mountaineers, and nature enthusiasts who come to enjoy its spectacular landscapes, diverse wildlife, and pristine natural environment. From snow-capped peaks and glacial streams to alpine meadows and coniferous forests, it offers a variety of terrains for all skill levels. Wildlife in the area includes rare snow leopards, ibexes, and a rich variety of birds. The park also features the Ala Archa Glacier, which is a significant water source. It remains a place of scientific, environmental, and recreational importance. The beauty of the park is accessible via a main road that leads to a base camp, which is used by climbers to ascend the surrounding peaks, such as the Ak-Sai Glacier and Peak Korona.
