Atsuta Shrine, known as Atsuta Jingu in Japanese, is one of the most significant Shinto shrines in Japan and a major religious and historical landmark located in the city of Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture. It is dedicated to the veneration of the sun goddess Amaterasu and enshrines the sacred sword Kusanagi, which is one of the three imperial regalia of Japan. With a history spanning over 1,900 years, the shrine complex is surrounded by a serene forest and features traditional architecture, including a main hall, treasure hall, and several subsidiary shrines. It attracts over 9 million visitors annually, who come to participate in festivals, traditional ceremonies, or to simply enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Atsuta Shrine is also known for its cultural significance, housing many National Treasures and important cultural properties. The annual Atsuta Matsuri, held in June, is one of the shrine's most celebrated events, featuring processions, traditional performances, and ceremonies that showcase Japanese culture and tradition.
