The Church on the Blood in Yekaterinburg, Russia, officially known as the Church of All Saints Resplendent in the Russian Land, is a Russian Orthodox church built on the site where the last Emperor of Russia, Nicholas II, and his family were executed following the Bolshevik Revolution. The church commemorates the Romanov sainthood. Constructed between 2000 and 2003, it stands in stark contrast to the grim history of the location it occupies. With golden domes and ornate decorations, it is both a memorial and a symbol of reconciliation in post-Soviet Russia. The architecture of the church combines traditional Russian style with a modern sensibility. Inside, visitors can find numerous icons, frescoes, and a museum dedicated to the Romanov family. The basement contains a shrine erected on the spot where the Romanov family's lives were taken. The site is a place of pilgrimage and reflection for many Russians and visitors interested in the tumultuous history of Russia during the early 20th century.
