Lille Cathedral, officially known as Basilique-Cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-la-Treille, is a Roman Catholic church located in Lille, the capital city of the Hauts-de-France region in northern France. This cathedral, which is the seat of the Archdiocese of Lille, is a relatively modern architectural achievement with construction beginning in the late 19th century and stretching well into the 20th century. The cathedral's design exhibits a blend of traditional Gothic structures with contemporary elements, most notably the modern facade that was completed in 1999. This frontage is marked by a remarkable rose window framed by an uncommon translucent marble gate. The cathedral was named after a 12th-century figure of the Virgin Mary, to which the structure is dedicated. Despite its modern renovations, the interior retains a sacred and tranquil atmosphere, adorned with stained glass, artwork, and a grand organ. Lille Cathedral also serves as an important cultural venue hosting various religious and artistic events throughout the year.
