The Marian Shrine of Annai Vailankanni, also known as Graha Maria Annai Velangkanni, is located in Medan, Indonesia, and is a notable Catholic shrine dedicated to Our Lady of Good Health. Resembling an Indo-Mogul structure, it exhibits an architectural style that is a fusion of Tamil and Indian influences, quite unique for a Catholic church. This magnificent edifice was inspired by the Annai Velangkanni Shrine in Tamil Nadu, India, and serves as a spiritual destination for both Christians and non-Christians alike. Established by Father James Bharataputra, a Jesuit priest from India, the shrine was inaugurated on September 1, 2005. With its seven storeys representing seven sacraments, it has become a place of pilgrimage, cultural exchange, and symbolises the peaceful coexistence of different religions in Indonesia. Its interior is adorned with an intricate depiction of biblical events, while the figure of Mary is dressed in a sari, embodying the maternal figure of Annai Vailankanni. Every year, the church celebrates the feast of Our Lady of Good Health, drawing numerous pilgrims from across Indonesia and neighboring countries.
