The Masjidi Jami Mosque, located in Khujand, Tajikistan, is a historical mosque that serves as a symbol of Islamic architecture and cultural heritage. This mosque, also known as the Friday Mosque, is situated in the heart of Khujand, which is one of the oldest cities in Central Asia and a significant cultural and commercial center in the Sughd region. Masjid Jami boasts an impressive structure with a large, decorated entrance portal, and striking minarets that reflect the region’s historical Islamic influences. Dating back to the 10th century, the mosque has been reconstructed and renovated several times due to various historical events, including earthquakes. The current structure mainly reflects the renovations from the 19th century.
