Peam Krasaop Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area in the Koh Kong Province of Cambodia, renowned for its unique mangrove forest ecosystem. Covering approximately 25,000 hectares, the sanctuary is a part of the larger Koh Kong Conservation Corridor and plays a vital role in biodiversity conservation, serving as a habitat for an array of wildlife including birds, reptiles, and mammals. Migratory birds find solace in its dense forests, while the muddy grounds are home to a number of rare crab species. The sanctuary features a wooden walkway that allows visitors to explore the mangroves without disturbing the delicate natural environment. The area is also of importance to local communities who rely on the mangrove resources for their livelihood. Visitors to the sanctuary may also encounter local fishermen at work and experience the traditional methods of fishing. Community-based ecotourism initiatives have been developed to benefit local residents and to educate tourists about the significance of mangrove conservation. The sanctuary offers a serene escape for nature lovers, bird watchers, and those interested in environmental conservation.
