Piazza delle Erbe is the vibrant heart of Verona, Italy, originally the town's forum during Roman times. Today, it is a picturesque square surrounded by historic buildings and dominated by a fountain, featuring a Roman statue called Madonna Verona. The square is flanked by the ornate frescoed Mazzanti Houses and the medieval Torre dei Lamberti offering panoramic views of the city. On the north side of the square stands the Baroque Palazzo Maffei decorated with allegorical statues, and beneath it, the ancient whale rib hangs, tied to an iron chain. Piazza delle Erbe continues to be a popular meeting place for locals and tourists, bustling with market stalls selling souvenirs, fruits, and vegetables.
