Place de la Bourse is one of Bordeaux’s most iconic attractions, located along the banks of the Garonne River. Designed in the 18th century by architect Ange-Jacques Gabriel, it is a stunning example of classical French architecture, featuring a symmetrical design with the Three Graces fountain at its center. The Water Mirror or ‘Miroir d’Eau’ is located across from Place de la Bourse and is the world's largest reflecting pool, created by landscape artist Michel Corajoud. This contemporary water feature, installed in 2006, consists of a thin layer of water covering a vast slab of granite paving, which creates a mirror effect reflecting the majestic facades of Place de la Bourse. The Water Mirror is particularly captivating as it alternates between mist and still reflections, attracting tourists and locals alike who come to admire the interplay of water, light, and architecture. It’s not only a place of visual delight but also provides a refreshing respite during warm days.
