Sabilal Muhtadin Mosque is the largest mosque in Banjarmasin, the capital city of South Kalimantan, Indonesia. Situated alongside the Martapura River, this mosque is not only a prominent place of worship but also a significant landmark in the region. The mosque's design reflects a blend of traditional Islamic architecture with local cultural influences. It was constructed under the guidance of the provincial government and named after Sheikh Muhammad al-Banjari, a revered Islamic figure who was influential in spreading Islam in the Banjarmasin area. The mosque can accommodate approximately 15,000 worshippers at once, making it an integral site for religious gatherings, especially during Friday prayers and the Eid celebrations. Its main dome, flanked by four smaller domes and a towering minaret, creates an imposing silhouette visible from various points in the city. The interior is equally majestic, with intricate decorations, marble floors, and expansive prayer halls that provide a serene atmosphere for reflection and devotion. The riverside location offers a picturesque backdrop, with many visitors coming to enjoy the tranquil setting and observe the mosque's architectural beauty.

Grand Mosque of Banjarmasin
Once was known as the most beautiful mosque in southeast asia (if i recall it right), but now is struggling with maintenance, i think. The fountain now just a mere moldy pool.
But the structure still ..
Comfortable religious attractions, and as a stop to rest for a while.
Like any other grand mosques, this one is indifferent. I'd recommend to stopby when the sun is at its highest, and have a rest for an hour or two. After then, take pics and rush for another trip!
Coco..
