The Shakhrisabz Fort Ruins are situated in the historic town of Shakhrisabz, in the Kashkadarya Province of Uzbekistan, not Isfara, Tajikistan as mentioned. Nonetheless, Shakhrisabz is known as the birthplace of Amir Timur, a great conqueror. The fort, also known as 'Ak-Saray Palace,' was Timur's summer residence. Though much of Ak-Saray has collapsed over time, the remnants still attest to its former grandeur. Constructed in the late 14th century, the fort had an immense gate towering at 65 meters high with stunning blue, white, and gold mosaics. While little is left of the original structure, the remaining pieces of the grandiose portal with its intricate brickwork, decorative motifs, and mosaic remnants give insights into the architectural innovation of the Timurid era. The ruins provide visitors a glimpse into the rich historical and cultural fabric of the region. Due to the palace's historical importance, it was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
