Ajloun Forest Reserve is a nature reserve located in the Ajloun district in the north of Jordan, approximately 73 kilometers from Amman. Spanning over 13 square kilometers, this reserve was established to conserve the region's evergreen oak forests and to promote sustainable tourism. The area is characterized by hilly terrain, covered with Mediterranean-like dense woodlands, home to a diverse ecosystem. It provides habitat for a variety of wildlife including the roe deer, which were reintroduced into the area. The forest also features a wealth of plant life, including oak, pistachio, and strawberry trees. Ajloun Forest Reserve offers visitors a chance to immerse themselves in nature and enjoy activities such as hiking on several trails, bird watching, and visiting the local soap house. The reserve also includes environmental and cultural education programs, emphasizing the importance of conservation. Ajloun Castle, an Islamic fortress built during the 12th century, is nearby, offering a historical perspective to the region's significance.
