Al Alam Palace, also known as Sultan's Palace, is located in the heart of Muscat, Oman, in the Old Muscat area bounded by the Gulf of Oman and Al Jalali and Al Mirani forts. This contemporary palace is one of the six residences of the Sultan of Oman and stands as a symbol of modern Omani architecture. Featuring a flamboyant facade with gold and blue pillars, the palace is not open to the public, but visitors can admire its grandeur from the gates. The opulent structure with its large grounds is used for official functions and receiving distinguished guests. Although the current palace was built in 1972, the site has been a seat of Omani rule for centuries. The palace complex also includes guest palaces, a royal court, and the Sultan’s offices. The waterfront location offers a spectacular view, juxtaposed with the historic forts and the harbor, making it a photogenic site and a beacon of Oman’s heritage and contemporary regal vision.
