Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is a monumental architectural masterpiece in the heart of Muscat, Oman. The mosque, a gift to the nation from Sultan Qaboos to mark his 30th year of reign, was completed in 2001 after six years of construction. It is not only a place of worship but also a symbol of Islamic culture and Omani craftsmanship. The mosque's design reflects a blend of Islamic architecture, featuring a vast prayer hall with a stunning 70-meter-tall minaret and an enormous Swarovski crystal chandelier that holds the record for the world's second-largest. The prayer carpet within is also record-breaking as one of the largest hand-loomed Iranian carpets. The mosque's exterior is constructed from Indian sandstone, and the interior is adorned with intricate Islamic geometric patterns and mosaics. The expansive grounds house a library with a vast collection of religious texts and tranquil gardens. Non-Muslim visitors are welcomed to visit, offering a significant opportunity to appreciate Omani culture and Islamic art.
