Alishan National Scenic Area is one of Taiwan's most renowned mountain resorts and nature reserves. Here are your options for reaching Alishan from various starting points:

By High-Speed Rail and Bus

  • Take the Taiwan High-Speed Train (THSR) to the Chiayi Station.
  • From the THSR Chiayi Station, board a BRT bus (Bus Rapid Transit) to the Chiayi TRA Station.
  • At the TRA Station, transfer to a bus headed towards Alishan. The journey takes around 2.5 hours.

By Train

  • Take the train to Chiayi Railway Station on the Taiwanese Railways Administration (TRA) network.
  • Outside the TRA Station, board the Chiayi County Bus to Alishan. This route may take approximately 2.5 hours.

By Alishan Forest Railway

  • From Chiayi Railway Station, catch the Alishan Forest Railway for a scenic mountain ride.
  • Note: The Forest Railway service can be affected by weather and maintenance, so check the service status in advance.

By Car

  • Driving provides a straightforward route to Alishan. Head on Provincial Highway 18 and follow the signs leading to Alishan.
