Asir National Park, set in the southwest of Saudi Arabia, is a spectacular natural sanctuary that extends over the regions of Asir and Al-Bahah. Covering an area of approximately 4,155 square kilometers, it was the first national park established in Saudi Arabia in 1976. The park is characterized by its diverse topography which includes rugged mountains, fertile valleys, and meandering streams. It is situated on the Sarawat Mountains, running parallel to the Red Sea, and includes the country's highest peak, Jabal Sawda, which towers at around 3,000 meters above sea level. The park's biodiversity is remarkable, with a mix of unique flora and fauna. Endemic plants such as wild olive and juniper trees can be found here, along with a variety of animals like the Arabian leopard, though many are now sadly endangered. Visitor attractions include camping sites, walking trails, and picnic areas, with Al-Soudah Park being one of the most popular destinations within. The region's rich cultural heritage is also showcased with local festivals, traditional arts, and crafts.
