Azadi Tower, previously known as the Shahyad Tower, is a monument located in Tehran, Iran, standing at 45 meters tall and is part of the Azadi Cultural Complex. It was designed by Hossein Amanat and inaugurated in 1971 to commemorate the 2,500th year of the foundation of the Imperial State of Iran. Its structure consists of 8,000 blocks of white marble from the Isfahan region. The tower is a combination of pre-Islamic and post-Islamic Iranian architectural styles, representing the rich cultural heritage and modern advancements of the country. Inside, there is a museum that hosts a variety of historical exhibits. The massive, Y-shaped design is situated within a park in the busy Azadi Square and has become a symbolic landmark and a focal point for public gatherings in the city. It's not just a monument – it's a cultural complex including a library, a museum, and several art galleries.
