One of our favourite places
This was our fourth stay, and we just booked our fifth stay after another lovely visit. The dive centre, spa, breakfast at Lime, the gym, morning yoga, and sunset cocktails at The Lighthouse are all simply superb. The dive boat team take such good care of you, and the dives are (weather permitting) world class. We came in May during monsoon with high winds, but still managed to dive almost daily. The house reef is IMHO is in pretty good condition and if you find yourself in the more bleached areas near the water villas, head for the reef drop-off outside the 200s villas towards The Lighthouse. And if you have specific dietary desires, do speak to the chefs as soon as you arrive – they listen and will make you the most delicious food. This is important, as they can’t accommodate all global dietary needs on one menu. The Sri Lankan and Caribbean chefs we met are amazing cooks, and we know and love good food. And if you have any niggles (no resort is perfect and there will always be some, especially on an extended stay) do talk to a manger or your butler. They will absolutely fix it - Baros really does listen. Shazeel handled our pre-arrival villa preferences excellently, as always, thank you. Justus, the new front of house manager, is beyond excellent, and you are completely safe in his hands. Upsy is as friendly as ever - she and Shaheena are an excellent duo to serve up cocktails and canapés in Lighthouse. In yoga sessions, Siti had endless patience with our lack of bendiness, and her and Juni’s massages are brilliant. Ahmed, Shuga, Ambra and the dive school team are simply the best and there is no team anywhere else in the world we would rather dive with. To all the staff: we love not just your service but also your company and conversation. How lovely it was to hear especially of Genesis’s baby but also your lives from as far away as Tajikistan, Africa, and Bali. This is a resort where there is a relaxed atmosphere with the staff, but of course only if you’d like, and always excellent service. The customers are generally pretty nice here as well which always helps. We had a great evening with John the new resort manager and were really pleased to hear of his plans for Baros. There is lots of new blood and new ideas and we’re confident we’ll have a lovely fifth visit. I hope you enjoy Baris as much as we do.
