Bibi Khanym Mosque is one of Samarkand’s most iconic landmarks. Located in the heart of the ancient city, it is a part of the UNESCO World Heritage site.
International visitors typically arrive via Tashkent International Airport (TAS). From Tashkent, you can take a connecting flight to Samarkand International Airport (SKD). Airlines operating domestic flights in Uzbekistan include Uzbekistan Airways. Upon arrival at Samarkand airport, you can take a taxi or a shuttle to reach the mosque.
Alternatively, you can use the high-speed train 'Afrosiyob' that runs between Tashkent and Samarkand, offering a scenic route and a quicker arrival compared to road transport. Once you reach the Samarkand Train Station, take a taxi or a bus to get to the mosque. The train station is approximately 6 km from the mosque.
If you're already in Uzbekistan, buses and shared taxis (marshrutkas) are commonly used for intercity travel. Once in Samarkand, you can hire taxis or use public transport to reach the Bibi Khanym Mosque. It is recommended to agree upon the taxi fare before the journey starts.
In Samarkand, you can also rent a bike, take a bus, or walk, depending on your accommodation’s proximity to the mosque. The historic center of Samarkand is manageable on foot, and the Bibi Khanym Mosque is within walking distance from other major sites like Registan Square and the Siyob Bazaar.
Note: All transportation options may vary based on seasonal schedules, and it’s recommended to check the latest information before planning your trip.
