Getting to Buibau Beach

By Air:
Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport (DIL) in Dili is the primary entry point to Timor-Leste for international travelers. Airlines serving this airport include Airnorth, Nam Air, Citilink, and Sriwijaya Air. From Dili, you will need to arrange land transportation to Baucau:
- Book a domestic flight to Cakung Airport in Baucau, operated by Airnorth, which takes around 30 minutes. From Cakung Airport, Buibau Beach is a short drive away.
- Alternatively, you can opt for a road trip, which offers scenic views of the Timor landscape.
By Road:
Traveling by road is the most common way to reach Buibau Beach from Dili:
- Take a public bus or minibus (microlet) from Dili's bus terminal towards Baucau. Travel time is approximately 3-5 hours depending on road conditions and stops.
- Rent a car and drive along the coastal road (Route 2) towards Baucau. The trip can take between 2 to 3 hours. This allows for flexibility to stop and enjoy the scenic ride.
- Hire a private taxi for a more comfortable journey. Make sure to agree upon the fare before departing.
By Sea:
There is no direct sea route to Baucau. However, you could potentially arrive in Timor-Leste by ferry from Indonesia and proceed by road to Baucau.
