Buraimi Fort is a historical site located in the Al Buraimi Governorate of Oman, near the border with the United Arab Emirates. This fort is a not-to-be-missed destination for history buffs and those willing to explore the rich heritage of Oman.
The nearest airport to Buraimi Fort is the Al Ain International Airport (AAN) on the UAE side. Upon arrival, visitors can rent a car or take a taxi to cross the border into Al Buraimi in Oman, which is approximately a 15- to 20-minute drive from Al Ain city centre.
Visitors coming from Oman can drive to Buraimi Fort on well-maintained roads. Those starting their journey in Muscat will find that it is a 4-hour drive via Route 13. Border crossing procedures will apply as you move between the UAE and Oman.
From the UAE, visitors can drive to Al Buraimi through Al Ain, crossing at the Al Buraimi checkpoint, where visa formalities can be completed for entry into Oman.
There may be bus services available from major cities like Muscat or from within the UAE. However, visitors must check the current schedules and availability as these services can change. Once in Al Buraimi, local taxis can transport you to the fort.
It is crucial for travelers to check visa requirements before attempting to cross the border. Visas can be obtained online prior to arrival, or at the border checkpoint for certain nationalities. Make sure to have all necessary documentation ready to avoid any delays.
