Perched atop a hill overlooking the beautiful Bay of Angels and Nice's Old Town, Castle Hill (Colline du Chateau) in Nice, France, is a historic site that offers panoramic views of the city and the Mediterranean Sea. Once the site of a military citadel built in the 11th century, the castle was destroyed in 1706 by the order of Louis XIV. Today, the hill is a public park where visitors can enjoy a leafy escape from the bustling city below. Accessible by a scenic elevator or by climbing the numerous steps, Castle Hill includes a cascading waterfall, the ruins of the old castle, a children's playground, and several cafes. The summit provides an excellent vantage point for photographs, especially at sunrise or sunset. Fragments of the past, such as the old bell tower and cemetery, add to the historic feel of the place, making it not only a visual delight but also a journey through Nice's rich history.
