The Chaukhandi Tombs are an archaeological site situated near the city of Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. This historic graveyard dates back to the 15th to 18th centuries and is renowned for its elaborate and exquisite sandstone carvings. The tombs are constructed in a unique style that features a mixture of Persian and local Sindhi craftsmanship, which reflects the influence of Islam in the region during the medieval period. The carvings include motifs, such as flowers and geometric designs that are considered to be the elements of the region's tribal culture. This site is particularly significant as it represents the architectural style and burial practices of the people of Sindh during the Mughal era. The vast area covered by the graveyard contains several clusters of tombs, which are typical examples of the Sindh's regional style, with intricately designed pavilions or canopies, known as 'chattris'. The Chaukhandi Tombs are considered an early example of Islamic funerary art and architecture in the region and have been designated as a protected monument under the Antiquities Act of Pakistan.
