Best Time to Visit Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood

Summer Season (June to August): The best time to visit the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood in Saint Petersburg is during the summer months when the weather is most favorable. Saint Petersburg experiences “White Nights” from late May to early July, where the city enjoys nearly 24 hours of daylight. This phenomenon, combined with the warmer summer temperatures, provides an ideal setting for exploring the magnificent architecture and intricate mosaics of the church. Visiting during this period also means you'll have more time during the day to enjoy the site, as well as other attractions in the city under the extended twilight hours. However, be mindful that this is also the peak tourist season, so expect larger crowds and consider booking any tours or entry tickets in advance.

Shoulder Season (May and September): For those looking to avoid the crowds while still enjoying pleasant weather, the shoulder months of May and September are excellent choices. The temperatures during these months are mild, making it comfortable to spend time outdoors and appreciate the church’s stunning exterior. While May offers the beginning of the White Nights, September will afford you the beauty of the early fall. Tourist numbers start to dwindle, which means shorter lines and a more relaxed visit, but do keep in mind that visiting hours might be reduced as the peak season ends, so checking the opening times before your visit is recommended.
