Best Time To Visit Daepo Port (Sokcho) In 2026 - 2027

Best Time to Visit Daepo Port, Sokcho, South Korea

The optimal time to visit Daepo Port, Sokcho, falls between late spring and early autumn, specifically from May to October. During this period, the weather is typically warm and agreeable, making it conducive for exploring the port and engaging in outdoor activities such as fishing, sightseeing, and enjoying local seafood delicacies. The temperate climate of late spring, usually from May to June, provides a comfortable backdrop for visitors to stroll along the port and admire the scenic beauty without the sweltering heat of midsummer. Meanwhile, early autumn, around September to October, is equally inviting, featuring cooler temperatures and the unique charm of fall foliage, enhancing the beauty of the surrounding Seoraksan National Park, which is known for its vibrant autumnal colors.

Moreover, if your visit coincides with the summer months, from July to August, you'll witness Daepo Port at its liveliest. However, be mindful that these are peak tourist months, which could mean larger crowds and higher prices for accommodation and services. Extra events such as the Sokcho International Seafood Festival, held in summer, add additional allure to the visit, offering cultural performances, games, and, most importantly, abundant fresh seafood. Ideally, it is wise to avoid Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) and Seollal (Lunar New Year), as these holidays can lead to overcrowded conditions and limited services, due to the mass movement of people visiting their families during these periods.
