Best Time to Visit Dawki Boating Point

The Dawki Boating Point, renowned for its crystal-clear river Umngot and picturesque landscapes, is one of Meghalaya's most stunning natural attractions. To make the most out of your visit, the best time to visit Dawki is between the months of November to May. During this period, the weather is generally pleasant, with temperatures ranging from a comfortable 12°C to 25°C. The post-monsoon period, particularly between November and January, offers the clearest water and is ideal for boating, as you can witness the riverbed due to the high transparency of the water. This is when Dawki is most enthralling, with the annual boating competition taking place in March, drawing tourists and locals alike.

While the winter months tend to be the prime time for tourism, the spring months of February to April are equally appealing. The climate is moderately warm, and the natural beauty of the region is in full bloom. Boating in Dawki during this time is quite enjoyable, as the weather is conducive to spending extended periods on the water without the extremities of the cold or heat. Avoid visiting during the monsoon season, between June to September, as heavy rains swell the river, making boating unsafe and less enjoyable, and the once crystal-clear waters become turbid.
