The Dragon and Tiger Pagodas are a prominent landmark in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, situated on the banks of the scenic Lotus Pond in the Zuoying District. These seven-story towers are famed for their striking architecture and religious significance. Constructed in 1976, the pagodas are intricately designed with colorful motifs and traditional Taiwanese features. Visitors enter the dragon's mouth and spiral up the floors, exploring various shrines and murals depicting scenes from Chinese folk religion and mythology, before exiting through the mouth of the tiger. This is believed to turn bad luck into good fortune. The towers are connected by a bridge that crosses over part of Lotus Pond, giving a picturesque view of the water and the surrounding area, which is rich in other traditional temples and pavilions. Lotus Pond itself is a bustling hub of activity where visitors can enjoy boat rides, feed koi fish, and stroll along the banks observing the many sculptures of mythical creatures.
