Dubai Creek, a saltwater creek located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is an area steeped in history that has served as a minor port for dhows from the Indian Subcontinent and East Africa for centuries. This natural inlet divides the city into two main sections: Deira and Bur Dubai. It has been an influential element in the city's growth, first attracting settlers here to fish and pearl dive. Over time, the creek expanded from its original breadth of about 1.5km to accommodate the surge of economic activities. Traditional dhows still navigate the waters, offering an insight into the old trading culture. The creek's shores are lined with bustling promenades, souks, and the historic Al Fahidi neighborhood, offering a picturesque blend of Dubai’s heritage and modernity. For a touch of history, the Dubai Museum promises a journey through time, while just a short abra ride away, the spice and gold souks provide a sensory overload of aromas and shimmer. The creek is also known for being the foundation upon which Dubai's trade developed.
