Gadwal Fort is located at the heart of Gadwal town in the Mahbubnagar district of Telangana, India. This historical fort represents the bygone era and architectural marvel of the region. Built during the 17th century, it was the center of power for the Gadwal Samsthanam, ruled by the Nizam during that period. The fort exhibits a combination of Hindu and Islamic styles of architecture, indicative of the cultural harmony prevalent at the time. Within its boundaries, the fort houses a number of temples dedicated to Hindu deities, such as Ramalingeshwara Temple, Venugopala Temple, and a temple dedicated to goddess Chennakesava. The fort is adorned with impressive gateways, colossal walls, and intricate carvings. One of its unique features is the 5.5-meter-long cannon named 'Jumbo', a testament to past defensive strategies.
