Hintha Gon Pagoda is a venerated site located on a hilly area overlooking the city of Bago, Myanmar. According to legend, it is the spot where the original Hinthar bird landed, which symbolizes the origins of Bago, once known as Hamsavati. This pagoda is a place of tranquility and spirituality, offering panoramic views of the city and the surrounding landscape. Hintha Gon Pagoda features a gilded zedi (stupa) as its centerpiece, surrounded by numerous shrines and pavilions. Visitors can observe the intricate carvings, statues of mythical creatures, and detailed mural paintings that adorn the site. There is also a revered statue of a hamsa bird (hintha) which represents the Mon people's mythological land-raising bird, hence giving the pagoda its name. Devotees visit to offer prayers, meditate, and pay homage to the Buddha. The complex is frequently lively during religious festivals. The place is also known for the colorful local market at the base of the hill, where visitors can immerse themselves in local culture.
