Must-Try Foods In Jew's Synagogue Of Quba (Quba) For Tourists 2026 - 2027

Food History of Jew's Synagogue of Quba, Azerbaijan

The Jew's Synagogue of Quba is an important cultural and historical landmark reflecting the life of the Jewish community in Quba. The cuisine in this region, like much of Azerbaijani food, is influenced by the interweaving cultures and traditions of the Caucasus, including the Jewish community living there. Known for the unique Mountain Jewish cuisine, the dishes are often prepared with fresh local produce, an abundance of herbs, and a palate that excludes pork and shellfish following kosher principles. The native Jews, also known as Krasnai Sloboda Jews or Juhuro, incorporate their own touch into Azerbaijani dishes, favoring chicken and lamb, and using a variety of fruits in their cooking.
