Food History of Kuakata National Park, Kuakata, Bangladesh

Kuakata, often referred to as the "Daughter of the Sea," is not only known for its panoramic sea beach but also for its distinctive culinary traditions that mirror a blend of tribal and Bengali cuisine. The region's food history is deeply influenced by the Rakhine community, which settled here in the 18th century after fleeing religious persecution in Myanmar. This influence is seen in the use of traditional ingredients like rice, freshwater fish, and a variety of vegetables in local dishes. Additionally, the proximity to the Bay of Bengal means that seafood plays a significant role in the diet of the locals. Over time, Kuakata has developed a food culture that is both rich and diverse, integrating elements of tribal, Bengali, and coastal culinary practices.
