Food History of Lake Same, Same, Timor-Leste (East Timor)

The cuisine of Lake Same, like much of Timor-Leste, is influenced by a blend of indigenous Timorese, Portuguese, Indonesian, and other Southeast Asian culinary traditions. With a mostly agrarian society, the diets of locals have historically revolved around staple foods such as rice, corn, root vegetables, and beans. Given its coastal location, the country's cuisine also incorporates a variety of seafood.
