Maa Budhi Thakurani Temple Tourism

Maa Budhi Thakurani Temple is situated in Berhampur, Odisha, India. It is one of the oldest temples in the region, dedicated to the worship of Shakti. The temple enshrines the deity known as Maa Budhi Thakurani, considered as the presiding deity or 'Ista Devi' of the local populace. The temple's architecture is reflective of the traditional Odishan style, characterized by its simplistic design and the presence of a Vimana - a structure which houses the sanctum sanctorum. The temple serves as the epicenter of the famous biannual Thakurani Yatra festival, which sees the goddess being taken out in a grand procession around the city. During this festival, the temple area is bejeweled with lights and bustling with devotees and tourists. The local community puts up several makeshift stalls selling local handicrafts, religious paraphernalia, and food items, reflecting the temple's significant socio-cultural role.
