Maha Bandula Park, also known as Maha Bandoola Garden, is a public park located in the heart of Yangon, Myanmar (Burma). Named after the Burmese general Maha Bandula, who fought against the British in the Anglo-Burmese wars, the park is a significant historical site and a hub for local recreation and relaxation. Surrounded by some of Yangon’s most iconic colonial-era buildings, including the Sule Pagoda, City Hall, and the High Court, the park is at the center of the city’s grid layout. In its midst stands the Independence Monument, a towering obelisk that commemorates Myanmar's struggle for independence from British rule. The park's lush greenery and well-manicured gardens offer a peaceful escape from the urban bustle. With shady trees, benches, and walking paths, it's a favored spot for both locals and tourists who come to enjoy the serene atmosphere. Throughout its history, Maha Bandula Park has also been a site for political events, speeches, and public gatherings, making it a place of social and cultural significance in Yangon.
