The Mingachevir Dam, an impressive hydro-engineering structure, is situated on the Kura River in the town of Mingachevir, Azerbaijan. Constructed between 1945 and 1953, this dam was one of the USSR's construction achievements during the post-World War II period, playing a crucial role in the economic development of the region. Spanning 1,550 meters and towering at a height of 80 meters, it creates the largest reservoir in Azerbaijan, the Mingachevir Reservoir, which has a capacity of 15.6 cubic kilometers. The reservoir is a key resource for irrigation and supplies water to the arid regions of Azerbaijan. Additionally, the Mingacheirut Dam features a hydroelectric power station that generates a substantial amount of Azerbaijan's electrical energy.
