Travel Steps to Mount Ramelau

  1. International Arrival: Your journey will typically begin by flying into Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport in Dili, the capital city of Timor-Leste.
  2. Travel to Maubisse: From Dili, you can either rent a car, hire a taxi, or take a local bus to Maubisse. The journey may take approximately 3 to 4 hours, depending on the mode of transport and road conditions.
  3. Accommodations: It is recommended to spend the night in Maubisse to acclimatize and prepare for your hike. Various guesthouses and homestays are available in the town.
  4. Preparing for the Hike: In Maubisse, it is possible to purchase supplies and hire local guides for the trek. Having a guide is advisable as they can provide insight into the local culture and ensure you follow the most appropriate paths.
  5. Beginning the Trek: The typical starting point for climbing Mount Ramelau is the village of Hato Builico, which is another 1 to 2 hours’ drive from Maubisse.
